FOR MENTORS

By supporting the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program, mentors gain the opportunity to effectively utilize the creativity and responsi veness of capable and qualified small business firms to provide a more stable and technologically diverse supplier for them.

George Mason provides third party developmental assistance to major DoD contractors and their Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB), Women O wned Small Businesses (WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB), and Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) by be ing a vehicle and a catalyst to help build long-term business relationships.

Qualifications
Must be eligible for Federal contracts and have at least one active subcontracting plan.

Assistance Provided By Mentors
Assistance by mentor firms personnel in:

  • General business management
  • Engineering and technical matters
  • Any other developmental assistance

Award of subcontracts under DoD contracts or other contracts on a non-competitive basis.

  • Loans, advance payments, and progress payments (up to 100%)
  • Investments in the protégé firm in exchange for ownership interest
  • Assistance from SBDCs/PTACs/HBCUs/MIs
