By supporting the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program, mentors gain the opportunity to effectively utilize the creativity and responsiveness of capable and qualified small business firms to provide a more stable and technologically diverse supplier for them.

George Mason provides third party developmental assistance to major DoD contractors and their Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB), Women Owned Small Businesses (WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB), and Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) by being a vehicle and a catalyst to help build long-term business relationships.

Must be eligible for Federal contracts and have at least one active subcontracting plan.
Assistance Provided By Mentors
Assistance by mentor firms personnel in:
» General business management
» Engineering and technical matters
» Any other developmental assistance
Award of subcontracts under DoD contracts or other contracts on a non-competitive basis.
» Loans, advance payments, and progress payments (up to 100%)
» Investments in the Protégé firm in exchange for ownership interest
» Assistance from SBDCs/PTACs/HBCUs/MIs
